Repeated Reading in Action
|
|
Content Area Examples
Literacy -
The student could choose a favorite book that is at their instructional reading level and use it as the material for their repeated reading instead of having a set short story that they have to read. This would get them engaged and interested in reading. The student could voice record themselves reading and have a goal to keep working and re-record to increase their fluency and WCPM. |
Music -
The student could choose a song that interests them. The student would then read the lyrics of that song while doing the intervention of a repeated reading. This would help the student boost their fluency and comprehension because it is something they are interested in. The student could then showcase their learning by reading it aloud to the class. |
Social Studies -
The student could start by choosing a famous speech that had been given throughout American history. The student would use this as the material for a repeated reading. After the student had mastered the speech, the student could showcase his or her fluency and comprehension by presenting it to the class. |
